I've wanted to do this before, but January 2017 was the first time I've actually sat down and completed the process of choosing my favourite ten photos from the previous year. Having now done it, I can understand why it hasn't happened before - it's REALLY hard! The cull is easy at first, then it gradually gets harder and harder. You end up spending so long staring at your work that you go through phases of thinking every single photo is crap and maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all (seriously). But, I finally got it down to a selection of ten that (I think) I'm happy with. At the very least, it's a stake in the ground for 2016, and I'm already looking forward to repeating the process for 2017 and beyond to see how my photography develops.
